Le Surréalisme (film screening and playback).
In celebration of classic surrealist cinema, and in recognition that the nights are fair drawin’ in, we will be screening a series of classic surrealist short films, bookended by composition and recordings from the era.
First up is a screening of Man Ray’s silent film – L’Étoile de mer (1928)*.
Come down to hear recordings of music by Eric Satie and Edgard Varese, before and after the
film is shown at around 9pm
*L’Étoile de mer is based on a script by Robert Desnos and depicts a couple (Alice Prin and André de la Rivière) acting through scenes that are shot out of focus.
